Supplier Ethical Data Exchange (Sedex) is one of the world's leading ethical trade membership organisations, providing data, insights, and professional services to help businesses manage their supply chains responsibly and hit their sustainability goals.
Foodbuy UK&I and our parent company, Compass Group’s, 7-year partnership with Sedex has helped us to connect with our supply chain, easily share sustainability data, conduct thorough due diligence and improve vendors sustainability performance.
In November 2023, 37 Foodbuy colleagues attended an in-person Sustainable Procurement training run by 2 Sedex Consultants, our resident Sedex Ethical Trade Coordinator, and 2 in-house experts from Foodbuy's Sustainability and Compliance team.
The two-part training, consisting of a learning session and an interactive workshop, aimed to:
- • Educate teams on human rights and modern slavery risks in the supply chain,
- • Highlight red flags that buyers may see when choosing new vendors,
- • Clearly demonstrate how buyers can put the requirements of Compass Group’s supplier code of conduct at the forefront of vendor’s minds,
- • Empower procurement teams to engage with suppliers efficiently and confidently on human rights topics,
- • Support Foodbuy to bring our sustainability commitments to life,
- • And initiate a culture shift that prioritises environmental and social sustainability
Recently, we have also worked with Sedex Consulting to develop a new Pre-Qualification Questionnaire, further supporting Foodbuy colleagues to start conversations about sustainability with potential suppliers early, embed strong ethical standards into supplier relationships from the beginning and get ahead of any future sustainability risks.
