Foodbuy hosts gala dinner and raises £50,000 for Duchenne UK

We hosted a gala dinner at the Kia Oval in London last night and raised over £50,000 for our charity partner, Duchenne UK.

The gala dinner saw over 150 guests from across the procurement, food & beverage and non-food sectors, including Channel 4 news presenter, Krishnan Guru-Murthy, enjoy a special three course dinner prepared by Culinary Director, Nick Vadis. The gala dinner also saw the Foodbuy Executive team providing front of house services with support from the wider team, who self-delivered all the non-catering services.

Duchenne UK is the leading charity working towards accelerating treatments and finding a cure for Duchenne muscular dystrophy, the most common genetic killer of children. Earlier in the year Foodbuy pledged to raise more than £50,000 for Duchenne UK, and following the success of the gala dinner this has been increased to £80,000.

Oliver Cock, Managing Director of Foodbuy said: “Our gala dinner has been a fantastic success and I really want to thank our partners, suppliers and sponsors for their support. The gala dinner raised over £50,000 which Duchenne UK will use for vital research. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters we have already exceeded our initial target and are well on our way to meeting the new fundraising target of £80,000.”

Emily Crossley, Co-Founder and CEO at Duchenne UK, said: “We’re very grateful to the incredible team at Foodbuy and their wonderful supporters. The gala dinner was an outstanding success and the money raised will be put to use helping us find treatments and a cure for Duchenne muscular dystrophy.”

The Foodbuy team’s fundraising attention now turns to the Duchenne Dash, a gruelling 24 hour bike ride from London to Paris. Covering more than 200 miles, cyclists pass through some of the most rural areas of France before finishing up the Champs-Élysées and at the Eiffel Tower. Foodbuy has a team of 12 amateur riders training to take part alongside 150 others from across the UK.
