Barchester Healthcare's Carbon Literacy Training

Barchester Healthcare partnered with Foodbuy Group to receive our accredited Carbon Literacy Training, empowering teams with the knowledge and skills to drive sustainability and support their journey to net zero.

As part of its ambition to become a net zero organisation, Barchester Healthcare took part in the tailored Carbon Literacy Training programme developed by Foodbuy’s sustainability team. Recognising the importance of engaging colleagues at all levels, Barchester sought to build a deeper understanding of carbon impacts and equip teams with the skills to play an active role in embedding sustainability across their operations.

Foodbuy Group’s CLT programme, fully accredited by The Carbon Literacy Project, is designed to empower organisations with the knowledge, confidence and tools needed to drive meaningful carbon reduction. The programme focuses on translating sustainability learning into practical, everyday actions that support wider organisational goals.

The fully accredited programme was attended by 10 participants from across the organisation and focused on improving confidence, awareness and engagement around carbon reduction, while demonstrating how individual actions can collectively deliver meaningful environmental change. The training was designed to be practical, relevant and accessible, helping participants understand how carbon reduction applies in both their professional roles and personal lives. Throughout the programme, the emphasis remained on enabling staff to feel confident taking ownership of sustainability initiatives and influencing positive change across the Barchester Healthcare organisation.

“The carbon literacy training arranged by Foodbuy didn’t just teach about climate change but really brought to life how everyday choices can make a difference. It made everyone think about how implementing small changes in their daily life can contribute to protecting the planet. From a business perspective, the Procurement team gained greater understanding around how sustainability can be incorporated in to future tenders. The training format was engaging and the trainers were informative. Overall an enlightening and useful training day recommended for all business stakeholders.”

– Claire Ashton, Head of Procurement at Barchester Healthcare
