How we’re responding to the Coronavirus

Here at Foodbuy, we are acutely aware of the difficult times that many businesses are facing as a result of Covid-19. We’re doing everything we can to support all of our partners throughout these turbulent times.

Our clients

  • Essential Food Boxes. We’ve provided 10,000 free essential food boxes to frontline staff working for Compass Group UK. These consisted of in-demand food and non-food products such as breakfast cereals, canned goods, biscuits, bread, confectionery, soap and toilet roll which were difficult to buy on the high street. • Treat Boxes. Following the success of our essential food boxes, we then provided 6,000 free treat boxes to Compass’ frontline staff. These boxes were packed full of drinks, goodies and other indulgent food items for staff and their families to enjoy – it was one of our ways of thanking key workers for the incredible job they are all doing. • Repack toolkit. Thanks to our Repack and Redistribute Project, we’ve provided clients with tools and information to decant catering size packs of key items for onward distribution to keyworkers and staff. Since the products we buy are usually packaged in large sizes and quantities, teams would need to decant and repack into smaller domestic-friendly quantities. For example, a 3kg pack of pasta would need to be repackaged into 500g packs normally available in supermarkets.
  • Easter treats. Over the Easter weekend, we sent over 50,000 free of charge Cadbury’s Crème Eggs for Compass units to share with staff and employees. Discover more
  • Food for the NHS. Our NHS Supply Chain: Food contract team are working with key suppliers to provide trusts with free food and drink, ensuring NHS staff are keeping refreshed. To date, the team have provided more than 345,000 units of stock including cold bottled drinks, crisps, snacks and much more, to over 114 trusts

Our people

Although our teams are working from home, we still have a strong responsibility to ensure our people’s health and wellbeing. Our Health and Safety team is regularly providing advice and support for working from home and we’re utilising collaboration tools to stay connected. We also held our first-ever virtual Town Hall in April, which saw over 100 Foodbuy colleagues join to hear our Executive team deliver important updates. Discover more here.
